Middle School and Secondary Music Teacher

About the role

The school is looking for a Music Educator to teach the Middle School and Secondary music curriculum, including IGCSE and IB Diploma Programme courses, and to run or join a choir or band programme. The Middle School covers ages 10 to 13 and the Secondary school ages 14 to 18, with class sizes of 20 to 25 students, including ESL learners.

Key responsibilities

• Teach the Middle School and Secondary music curriculum, including IGCSE and IB courses.
• Develop and lead a choir programme or join the school band, covering vocal training, repertoire selection, performance preparation, instrumental instruction, ensemble rehearsals and sectional coordination.
• Provide individual and group vocal coaching and support the school's musical ensembles.
• Manage classrooms, plan lessons and follow up with students, using inquiry-based learning and differentiated strategies for ESL learners.
• Support regional music events and interschool collaborations, and attend Saturday and evening school events such as concerts.
• Maintain curriculum documentation, take part in professional development, and communicate with parents, colleagues and administrators.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Music or Music Education.
• A recognized teaching qualification (e.g. PGDE/PGCE) with a full-time student-teaching practicum is highly preferred.
• At least two years of full-time, post-qualification teaching experience.
• Fluent English, the medium of instruction.

• Annual base salary of about US$44,000 after tax, slightly higher with experience, plus a travel allowance, New Year's bonus, pension contributions and a re-enlistment bonus.
